Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. raisins
  • 2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. allspice
  • 2 c. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 c. nuts (if desired)

Instructions

  1. Cook the raisins, sugar, cinnamon, butter, allspice, water, and salt together on top of the stove.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil and then cool.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, eggs, and nuts (if desired) to the cooled mixture.
  4. Mix well until combined.
  5. Pour into a baking pan and bake in a 300°F oven for 2 hours.
  6. Ensure the cake bakes for the full 2 hours for best results.
