Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 5 egg yolks
  • 5 egg whites
  • 3 c. cake flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix together the butter, Crisco, sugar, egg yolks, milk, vanilla, flour, and baking powder until well combined.
  2. Gently fold in the beaten egg whites until incorporated.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
  4. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
