- In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups flour, dry yeast, sugar, salt, and Italian seasoning; mix well.
- In a saucepan, heat milk, water, and butter until warm (120° to 130°), with butter not needing to melt; add to flour mixture.
- Add egg to the mixture.
- Blend at low speed until moistened; then beat for 3 minutes at medium speed.
- By hand, gradually stir in 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese and enough remaining flour to make a firm dough.
- Knead on a well-floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to grease the top.
- Cover and let rise in a warm oven (turn oven to lowest setting for 1 minute, then turn off) for 15 minutes.
