Ingredients

  • 1/2 bunch cilantro
  • 3 small bunches green onion
  • 2 jalapeno peppers
  • 3 green chilies
  • 1 large can whole tomatoes
  • 15 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 3 to 4 medium fresh tomatoes

Instructions

  1. With a food processor or by hand, chop fine the cilantro, green onions, jalapeno peppers, and green chilies.
  2. Mix the chopped ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Slice the tomatoes and add them to the mixture.
  4. Mix the tomato sauce with water and add it to the mixture.
  5. Cut up the fresh tomatoes into desired chunks and stir into the mixture.
  6. Store in the refrigerator; it will keep up to 7 days.

Tips & Substitutions

For a milder salsa, remove the seeds from the jalapenos and green chilies before chopping. Fresh tomatoes can be substituted with canned diced tomatoes if necessary, but for the best flavor, use ripe, in-season tomatoes. Adding a squeeze of lime juice can enhance the freshness, and consider blending in some avocado for creaminess. This salsa pairs well with Mexi-Chile Dip.

Serving Suggestions

Serve J J'S Special Salsa with tortilla chips as an appetizer, or use it as a topping for tacos, burritos, or grilled meats. It also makes a vibrant addition to salads or can be incorporated into dishes like chili. For a refreshing drink, pair it with The 2 Ounce Margarita for a complete fiesta experience.

Storage & Reheating

Store the salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. It's best served chilled, so allow it to sit in the fridge for at least an hour before serving. If the salsa thickens over time, stir in a little water or additional tomato sauce to reach your desired consistency before serving.
