Sweet jam strips with buttery dough and a hint of vanilla, topped with jam and drizzled with almond glaze, perfect for a delightful snack or dessert treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. jam

Instructions

  1. Cream together the butter, sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  2. Mix the flour and baking powder together, then add to the creamed mixture and combine.
  3. Divide the dough in half and press each half into long rectangular strips on a baking sheet.
  4. Place both dough halves lengthwise on one cookie sheet.
  5. Using the back of a spoon, press a shallow indentation in the center of each dough strip.
  6. Fill each indentation with jam.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 30 minutes until golden.
  8. Allow to cool, then drizzle with almond glaze and cut into 1 1/2-inch bars.
