Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup unbleached flour
  • jam or preserves

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter.
  2. Blend in the cream cheese, maple syrup, and lemon juice.
  3. Add the flour and combine until the dough is smooth. Chill overnight.
  4. Roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
  5. Cut into 3-inch rounds.
  6. Make an indentation in the center of each round.
  7. Spoon jam into each indentation.
  8. Bake on oiled cookie sheets at 450°F (232°C) for 15 minutes until crust is golden brown and possibly flaking.
  9. If not done, return for an additional few minutes.
