Ingredients

  • 2 packages active dry yeast (1/4 oz. each)
  • 1/2 cup warm water (110~ to 115~)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110~ to 115~)
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar, divided
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons jelly or jam

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Add warm milk, softened butter, 1/3 cup sugar, egg yolks, and salt; mix well.
  3. Stir in enough flour to form a soft dough (do not knead).
  4. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top.
  5. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours.
