Ingredients

  • 4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/3 cup Crisco oil
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 4 1/2 cups sifted flour

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease 2 loaf pans.
  2. Put salt, molasses, oil, and oats in a large bowl.
  3. Add boiling water to the mixture.
  4. When the mixture is lukewarm, add eggs and dry yeast; let stand until yeast is dissolved.
  5. Add sifted flour to the mixture.
  6. Stir and let stand for 20 minutes without kneading.
  7. Turn out onto a floured board; knead and cut into 4 equal parts.
  8. Put 2 parts into each prepared bread pan.
  9. Let the dough rise until doubled in bulk.
  10. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 1 hour.
