Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter or margarine and let it cool.
  2. Add the cooled margarine to the brown sugar and mix well.
  3. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
  4. Stir in the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add vanilla and chopped nuts to the mixture.
  6. Spread the batter evenly in a well-buttered 8-inch square pan.
  7. Bake in a 350°F oven for 25 minutes.
