Juicy, tender brisket infused with garlic, carrots, and onions, glazed with horseradish and ketchup, perfect for hearty family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 4 to 4 1/2 lb. brisket
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 sliced carrots
  • 2 sliced onions
  • 2 to 3 stalks celery
  • horseradish
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 to 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup consomme

Instructions

  1. Saute diced garlic clove in a pot and remove from heat.
  2. Place the brisket in the pot; add sliced carrots, sliced onions, and celery stalks.
  3. Spread horseradish over the brisket. Sprinkle with brown sugar; add 1 cup of consomme.
  4. Cover and roast in a 350°F oven for about 3 hours.
  5. Spread ketchup over the brisket, sprinkle with additional brown sugar, and brown at 450°F until caramelized.
  6. Allow the brisket to cool.
  7. Remove skin from fat, strain the sauce or process it in a processor.
  8. The brisket can be frozen for later use.
  9. Defrost, slice, and reheat before serving.
