Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Combine butter and sugar. Mix for 10-15 minutes until creamy.
  2. Add one egg at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Add remaining ingredients: flour, buttermilk, water, baking soda, vanilla, and cinnamon.
  4. Mix at high speed until the batter is creamy.
  5. Pour batter into prepared baking pans.
  6. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 20-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow to cool before frosting or serving.
