Ingredients

  • 32 oz sour cabbage
  • 1 lb smoked cooked ham
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • 7 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup parsley
  • 1 tsp butter

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Grease a 13x9x1 inch glass baking dish with 1 tsp butter and set aside.
  3. Cook sour cabbage with its juices and 1 cup of warm water for about 30 minutes.
  4. Strain the cooked sour cabbage and set aside.
  5. Grind 1 pound smoked cooked ham, then add 4 eggs, a pinch of salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Chop 1/2 cup fresh parsley and incorporate into the ham mixture.
  7. Layer a thin layer of drained sour cabbage on the bottom of the baking dish.
  8. Spread about 1 1/2 cups of ham mixture over the cabbage layer.
  9. Repeat the layering process, ending with a layer of sour cabbage on top.
  10. In a medium bowl, beat 3 eggs with 1 1/2 cups whipping cream until well combined.
  11. Pour the egg and cream mixture evenly over the top layer of cabbage.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 hours until set and golden.
