Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 large can sliced peaches
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and melt 1/2 cup of butter or margarine in an oblong cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, sift together 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  3. Mix 3/4 cup milk with the dry ingredients until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the cake pan.
  5. Drain the large can of sliced peaches and evenly distribute the peaches over the batter.
  6. Bake until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
