Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons melted margarine
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 3 beaten egg yolks

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, salt, and flour in a bowl.
  2. Stir in melted margarine, grated lemon peel, and lemon juice.
  3. Combine milk and beaten egg yolks separately.
  4. Add the milk mixture to the lemon mixture and stir well.
  5. Fold in beaten egg whites gently.
  6. Pour the mixture into an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.
  7. Place small rocks in the bottom of a Dutch oven to elevate the baking pan.
  8. Pour water 2 inches deep into the Dutch oven.
  9. Place the baking pan in the Dutch oven.
  10. Bake for 40 minutes.
