Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. dry bread crumbs
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. grated lemon peel
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten

Instructions

  1. Mix first 5 ingredients.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add egg gradually, tossing with fork until flour mixture is moistened.
  4. Shape into ball, flatten slightly.
  5. On floured surface, roll 2/3 of dough into a 16 x 11-inch rectangle. Place in ungreased 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan (dough should go up sides).
  6. Spread pie filling on dough.
  7. Roll remaining dough 1/4-inch thick; cut strips 1/2-inch wide.
  8. Crisscross strips over filling.
  9. Press ends to border.
  10. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool in pan.
