Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup cooking oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups mashed pumpkin
  • 2/3 cup water

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.
  2. Beat together sugar, oil, and eggs until light and fluffy.
  3. Add pumpkin and blend well.
  4. Add dry ingredients alternately to the pumpkin mixture with water, beating well after each addition.
  5. Pour batter into 2 greased 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pans.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until bread tests done.
  7. Cool on racks.
