Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (6 oz.) package white chocolate chips
  • 1 (7 oz.) jar chopped macadamia nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Beat butter and shortening at medium speed with an electric mixer until soft and creamy; gradually add brown sugar and sugar. Beat well.
  3. Add egg and vanilla extract; beat well to combine.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, beating well after each addition.
  6. Stir in white chocolate chips and chopped macadamia nuts.
  7. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough onto a lightly greased cookie sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  9. Cool on wire racks before serving.
