Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Place butter in an 8 x 10 x 2 inch baking pan and put in a warm oven to melt.
  2. In a bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in milk and blend until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into the baking pan over the melted butter.
  5. Spread fruit over the batter.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 40 minutes or until the topping is browned and crisp.
  7. Serve warm with ice cream.
