One-Rise Cinnamon Rolls

- Combine 1 1/2 cups flour, yeast, 1/4 cup sugar, salt, 2 tablespoons butter, egg, and 1 cup hot water in a mixer bowl.
- Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes.
- Stir in remaining 2 cups flour.
- Knead on a floured surface for 1 minute.
- Roll the dough into a 7 x 15-inch rectangle.
- Mix 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and 1/2 cup butter and spread over the dough.
- Roll up the dough as for a jelly roll.
- Slice the rolled dough into individual rolls.
- Combine 1 cup heavy cream, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Place the sliced rolls in the prepared baking dish.
- Let the rolls rise for 35 to 45 minutes until doubled in size.
- Bake at 400°F for 25 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool for 15 minutes before inverting onto a serving tray.
