Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 8 eggs
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons maple flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

Instructions

  1. Put cream of tartar in egg whites and beat until stiff peaks form.
  2. Gradually add the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar to the egg whites while beating.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add cooking oil, water, and maple flavor to the dry ingredients and mix well.
  5. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into an ungreased chiffon cake pan.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Invert the cake and let it cool completely before removing from the pan.
