- Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.

- Pour the cooled cocoa mixture into the reserved batter and mix gradually.
- Pour alternate layers of the light and dark batter into an ungreased tube pan.
- Bake at 325°F (160°C) for 55 minutes.
