Mary'S Banana Bread
A moist, flavorful banana bread packed with ripe bananas, nuts, and hints of vanilla, perfect for breakfast, snack, or dessert, loved by all ages.

- Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together. Set aside.
- Mash bananas and set aside.
- Cream the sugar and shortening until well blended.
- Add eggs and mix well. Add buttermilk and vanilla; mix thoroughly.
- Add mashed bananas (about half at a time) and mix well after each addition.
- Add dry ingredients (about half at a time) and mix well after each addition.
- Stir in chopped nuts with a spatula or spoon.
- Spray loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray and pour batter into the pan.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool before slicing. Can freeze or refrigerate.
