Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine or butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup white Karo syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 6 quarts popped popcorn

Instructions

  1. Remove from heat and stir in soda.
  2. Pour the caramel mixture over the popped corn.
  3. Bake in a 200°F oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
  4. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.
  5. Optionally, add peanuts before baking for extra flavor.
