Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, soda, sugar, baking powder, and cocoa in a bowl.
  2. Stir thoroughly, then add water, mayonnaise, and vanilla.
  3. Stir enough to mix.
  4. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes in two 9-inch layer pans or 1 hour in a tube pan.
  5. Pans should be greased and floured.
  6. Cool cake.
