Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup Maypo maple oat cereal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted shortening

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl; break in egg.
  2. Add milk and mix well.
  3. Add melted shortening and pour into a greased 10 or 12-inch cake pan.
  4. Prepare the topping by creaming together soft butter, sugar, cinnamon, and flour.
  5. Spread topping evenly over the batter.
  6. Dot with chopped nutmeats.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 25 minutes.
  8. Cut into squares to serve.
