Ingredients

  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3/4 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (16 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 (4 oz.) can chopped mild chilies
  • 1 Tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the hamburger in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Drain the excess fat from the browned hamburger.
  3. Add chopped onion, green pepper, minced garlic, crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, tomato sauce, chili powder, basil, cumin, chopped chilies, tomato paste, salt, and pepper to the skillet.
  4. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  5. Simmer uncovered for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
