Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium head cabbage, cut into 6 wedges
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 c. Mozzarella cheese, grated
  • chili powder (optional)
  • 3 c. hot, cooked rice

Instructions

  1. Put oil in a large skillet over moderate heat.
  2. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  4. Arrange cabbage wedges over the meat in the skillet.
  5. Add tomato sauce, garlic powder, and pepper. Stir to blend.
  6. Cover and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes or until cabbage is just crisp-tender.
  7. Sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese on top and heat until cheese melts.
  8. Serve the beef and cabbage mixture over hot cooked rice.
