Ingredients

  • 6 cups peeled, cored and thinly sliced apples
  • 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2/3 cup regular oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine apples, 1/3 cup of brown sugar, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  2. Toss gently to coat the apples evenly.
  3. Place the apple mixture in an 8-inch square baking dish and set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine the remaining brown sugar and flour.
  5. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles a coarse meal.
  6. Stir in the oats and chopped pecans.
  7. Spoon the streusel mixture over the apples in the baking dish.
  8. Microwave uncovered on high for 12 to 13 minutes, rotating a half turn at 6 minutes.
  9. Spoon the warm dessert into individual dishes and top with vanilla ice cream if desired.
