Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Blend margarine and cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Add sugar and beat well until combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, blending until smooth after each addition; then add vanilla.
  4. Sift together the cake flour, salt, and baking powder three times.
  5. Add the flour alternately with milk, mixing until smooth after each addition.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and floured 10 x 4-inch tube pan.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
