Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. ground pork
  • 1/2 lb. ground veal
  • 1 1/2 cups cracker crumbs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 egg
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 can mushroom soup
  • 1 can water

Instructions

  1. Mix ground pork, ground veal, cracker crumbs, milk, egg, and a pinch of salt together.
  2. Form the mixture into cakes.
  3. Lay the cakes on wax paper and let them rest for half an hour or longer.
  4. Brown the cakes in shortening in a skillet.
  5. Place the browned cakes in a baking dish.
  6. Pour the mushroom soup diluted with water over the cakes.
  7. Bake in a 350°F oven for 1 to 1½ hours.
