Ingredients

  • 5 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 cake yeast
  • 2 Tbsp. warm water
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Sift dry ingredients.
  3. Cut in shortening.
  4. Add yeast mixture and buttermilk. Knead a few times in a little flour.
  5. Put in refrigerator.
  6. Take out about 20 minutes before baking for best results.
  7. Bake at 450° for approximately 10 minutes or until golden brown.
