Mom's Swedish Meatballs feature tender meatballs in a sweet and tangy jam-based sauce, perfect for hearty family dinners or entertaining guests with a comforting, flavorful dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chopped meat
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 16 oz jar grape jam
  • 16 oz jar apricot jam
  • small bottle chili sauce
  • 1/2 lemon, squeezed
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine chopped meat, egg, bread crumbs, and water in a bowl.
  2. Blend all ingredients; if too dry, add a little water; if too wet, add more bread crumbs.
  3. Form into small meatballs and set aside.
  4. Combine grape jam, apricot jam, chili sauce, lemon juice, and brown sugar in a pot.
  5. Heat until the jams and sugar are melted and blended.
  6. Add raisins and stir into the sauce.
  7. Add the meatballs to the sauce, stir gently, and cook on low heat for about 1.5 to 2 hours.
