- Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm water.
- Beat the egg, sugar, and salt together.
- Combine the yeast and egg mixtures in a large mixing bowl.
- Gradually blend in enough flour to make a soft, manageable dough.
- Knead the dough for about five minutes.
- Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise until doubled in bulk, approximately 1 1/2 hours.
- Roll the dough on a floured surface until about 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut the dough with a biscuit cutter and dip each piece into the melted butter.
- Layer the buttered pieces in an angel food cake pan or Bundt pan, overlapping them.
- Cover the pan with a damp cloth and let the dough rise again until doubled in bulk.
- Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
- If the bread browns too quickly, cover the top with foil.
