Ingredients

  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce with meat
  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 Tbsp flour
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 3 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Cook spaghetti according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  2. Place the cooked spaghetti in a casserole dish.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of nutmeg to the spaghetti sauce and heat it in a saucepan.
  4. Combine the seasoned sauce with the spaghetti, stirring to coat evenly.
  5. Prepare the béchamel topping: whisk together 2 cups milk, 6 tablespoons flour, ½ teaspoon nutmeg, and 3 tablespoons butter until smooth.
  6. Stir in ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese and a beaten egg into the béchamel.
  7. Pour the béchamel over the spaghetti and sauce in the casserole.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling.
  9. Let stand for a few minutes before serving.
