Ingredients

  • 1 c. molasses
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and brown sugar until well combined.
  2. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. Stir in molasses.
  3. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder, cinnamon, ginger, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until dough forms.
  5. Chill dough for 1 hour before rolling out and baking.
