Ingredients

  • 1 large head cauliflower or 1 large bunch broccoli or 1/2 cauliflower and 1/2 broccoli mix
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped, cooked ham
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 pound Cheddar cheese, diced

Instructions

  1. Chop cauliflower and/or broccoli into flowerets or bite-sized pieces.
  2. Steam cauliflower and/or broccoli until tender.
  3. Place cauliflower and/or broccoli in a lightly greased 2-quart casserole; sprinkle with chopped, cooked ham.
  4. Melt 1/4 cup butter in a heavy saucepan.
  5. Blend in flour and cook until bubbly.
  6. Add cheese, stirring until melted.
  7. Spoon sauce over the ham and vegetables.
  8. Combine bread crumbs and remaining butter; spoon over the sauce.
  9. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.
