Ingredients

  • 20 to 24 large white mushrooms
  • 1 lb. sweet sausage
  • 3/4 c. Mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 c. seasoned bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Fry and chop the reserved mushroom stems; drain.
  2. Fry and drain the sweet sausage.
  3. Mix together the mozzarella cheese and seasoned breadcrumbs, then add the chopped mushroom stems and cooked sausage.
  4. Combine all ingredients until well mixed.
  5. Fill the hollowed-out mushroom caps with the mixture.
  6. Place the filled mushroom caps in a shallow baking dish.
  7. Add a little wine to the dish.
  8. Bake at 400°F for 15 to 20 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  9. Serve immediately.
