Savory mushroom stuffings combine chopped mushroom stems, onions, cream cheese, bread crumbs, and ham or bacon for a rich, flavorful filling perfect for large mushrooms or other appetizers.

Ingredients

  • stems from mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 (3 oz.) package cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup fine dry bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped cooked ham or bacon

Instructions

  1. In a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish, place chopped mushroom stems and onion. Cover.
  2. Microwave at High (10) for 4 minutes.
  3. Stir after 2 minutes. Add cream cheese, mashing and mixing well into the hot mixture.
  4. Stir in bread crumbs and ham or bacon.
  5. Stuff the mixture into 12 large mushrooms.
