Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon, cloves, allspice
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. nuts
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. boiling water

Instructions

  1. Sift flour, salt and spices together.
  2. Add raisins and nut meats.
  3. Set aside.
