- Beat the egg yolks for 5 minutes until thickened.
- Add cold water and sugar to the yolks and beat for an additional 4 minutes.
- Sift together the flour and salt, then fold into the yolk mixture.
- Beat the egg whites until frothy, add cream of tartar, and continue beating until they hold peaks.
- Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the yolk and flour mixture.
- Pour the batter into a tube pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour.
