Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • Powdered sugar
  • 2 1/2 cups Rice Krispies
  • Extra butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9 x 9-inch pan with butter or margarine.
  2. Dust the pan with powdered sugar.
  3. In a saucepan, boil butter, brown sugar, and chopped dates together for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Remove from heat and add vanilla and chopped nuts.
  5. Pour the mixture over the Rice Krispies in a large, buttered bowl.
  6. Mix well until combined.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared pan.
  8. Dust the top with more powdered sugar.
  9. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
