Ingredients

  • 2 cups peeled, sliced peaches
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Mix sliced peaches with 1 cup of sugar; set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Place butter in a 2-quart baking dish.
  4. Set the dish in the oven to melt the butter.
  5. Combine the remaining 1/2 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, and milk; pour over the melted butter without stirring.
  6. Add the sugared peaches on top of the batter without stirring.
  7. Bake for about 1 hour, until the batter has risen to the top and is crisp and brown.
