Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  1. Mix flour and shortening (Crisco) at low speed until well combined.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Sift sugar, salt, and baking powder together.
  4. Gradually add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  5. Add almond extract and beat the batter for 2 minutes at low speed.
  6. Pour batter into a lightly greased and floured Bundt pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool before removing from the pan.
  9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cooled.
