Ingredients
- 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon shortening ⓘ
- 1/2 cup white sugar ⓘ
- 2 eggs ⓘ
- 2 cups plus 1 tablespoon flour ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- dash of nutmeg ⓘ
- 1 1/4 cups drained canned apples ⓘ
- 1/2 cup brown sugar ⓘ
- 2/3 cup water ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon soda ⓘ
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon ⓘ
- 3 tablespoons powdered milk ⓘ
Instructions
- Mix sugars and shortening for 3 to 5 minutes on low speed of mixer.
- Add water and eggs and mix well.
- Combine dry ingredients and add to the previous mixture gradually, mixing well.
- Fold in drained canned apples.
- Pour batter into a greased oblong pan.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 to 30 minutes.
