Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 10 slices bread
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Spray baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Lay the slices of bread in baking dish in two rows, overlapping them like shingles.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat together the egg, egg whites, milk, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread.
  6. In a small bowl, stir together the remaining ingredients.
  7. Sprinkle mixture over the bread.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until it has browned on top and is firm to touch.
