Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 1 lb. light brown sugar
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. black walnuts, chopped
  • 3 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Cream together butter, Crisco, brown sugar, and white sugar.
  2. Add vanilla and mix well.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Add the dry mixture to the egg mixture, starting with the dry mix and alternating with milk, ending with the dry mix.
  6. Stir in chopped walnuts.
  7. Pour the batter into a 10-inch well-greased and floured pan.
  8. Bake at 325°F for 90 minutes, starting in a cold oven.
