Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 pork chops
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1 onion (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brown pork chops in a frying pan with chopped or diced onion. Drain fat and remove pork chops.
  2. Add remaining ingredients — tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, basil, and onion if using — to the frying pan.
  3. Place pork chops back into the pan on top of the rice mixture.
  4. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes until rice is cooked and pork chops are tender.
