Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 5 tablespoons oil
  • 2 teaspoons vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, and baking soda into an ungreased 8-inch square pan.
  3. Make three holes in the flour-cocoa mixture with the back of a spoon.
  4. Pour oil into the first hole.
  5. Pour vinegar into the second hole.
  6. Pour vanilla into the third hole.
  7. Pour 1 cup water over all and stir with a fork to combine.
  8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
