- Saute onion slices in 2 tablespoons of margarine.
- Spoon the onion mixture into an 11 3/4 x 7 1/2-inch baking dish.
- Top with 1 1/2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese.
- Combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk.
- Pour the soup mixture over the cheese layer.
- Spread the remaining margarine on one side of each bread slice and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese.
- Place the bread slices, overlapping along each long side of the dish, leaving the center open.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
- To serve, place a bread slice on a plate and cover with the onion mixture.
