Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 beaten egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sift together all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Stir in chopped walnuts and grated orange peel.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the beaten egg, orange juice, and oil.
  4. Add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and blend well.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 55 minutes. Do not overbake.
  7. Cool in the pan on a rack for 10 minutes before removing from the pan.
